Ah, the Doornroosje!
One of the last of the old-school clubs. A vintage rock’n’roll sauna we’ve played many times over the years, and almost always well. Last night was one of those nights you kinda live for if you are a rock band. Sold out, a sweaty and engaged – but quiet in the quiet bits – crowd, and a band that somehow jelled right from the first note. Damn, I wish every night could be like this!
They’re tearing the old girl down and building another ‘rock factory’. What a shame.
Thank you for this great Setlist – you picked the songs I hoped for or that came as a nice surprise and you put them in a perfect order: the playing was “on” from the first to the last moment of the show … An adequate final for the old Dornroosje. Schnüff.
Still flabbergasted. There is only 1 band like Motorpsycho. For me the best band i know. Have seen some great shows but never had a show this kind of an impact on me. Overloaded. I bow my head. Respect my friends.
Totally blasted (and sweat) away. What a version of Chien!
This was the best Motorpsycho I have ever seen. Mind you, I have seen lots of shows. Thanks for a vibrant evening
I really hope you will play ‘Un Chien d’Espace” / K9 -suite in Brussels too..
Untill tomorrow evening.
Hi Bent, I fully agree with what you write (also in the previous blog) about rock factories in Holland. It’s happening everywhere across the country. The neoliberal monster strikes everywhere. This month the old beautiful venue of Tivoli in Utrecht is closing to be replaced by… It’s all logistics and economics and the clubs suffering from pressure to get their budgets in order. When I read your posts it made me realise that even I have come to find this like a normal development. However, it is not, and it’s good that you voice your feelings as a musician about having a hard time to play places like the Patronaat. These are much too rarely heard. Thanks. BTW I guess the flip side of the coin is probably that the clubs can at least continue. BTW2: there’s also a very new and exciting underground emerging in our country with the kinda small venues you’ll dig, the people are taking back over kind of places. Too small still for Motorpsycho unfortunately… Thanks so much for two incredible shows in Haarlem and Nijmegen. Especially the Nijmegen one…I’m still floating and sailing on. Have a great time the rest of the tour!
Thank you Motorpsycho. Your show at Doornroosje was the most intense and overwhelming show I’ve seen in my whole life. Your sound is truly special and awesome, still flabbergasted. I sincerely hope to see you back in Nijmegen soon, playing the new Doornroosje. I think Doornroosje learned a lot from the mistakes from the other ‘rockfactoys’ but we will found out more soon. Have a great tour!
What an excellent show! I’ve seen many of your shows and as always I came out smiling and full of energy. What a great way to spend a tuesday evening!
